I’m developing a survey which will have fields for some identifying information: name, email, phone in addition to other questions. Should those identifying info fields be regular form fields, or should I use single-line survey-style fields?
The Name, Phone and Email address are not typically ‘survey’ questions. You’re not trying to capture an opinion or feedback about them. You should use those specific field types from the Advanced section of the form builder. When you do, the fields are output with specific markup so that the browser has a hint about what information to offer to autocomplete the field, and certain mobile devices will show specific inputs for various input types.
I recommend using the dedicated fields from the Advanced section of the form builder for those three fields specifically. If you have any other questions, please let us know.
