PayPal: Recurring Donations

In the past I’ve created a GF donation form with the use of Stripe–super simple. However, I’m taking on a client who has a PayPal Business Account, wants recurring donations as an option, and Stripe is not on the table. It is my understanding that for recurring donations, Stripe is the only option and PayPal does not offer this with the GF integration, or does PayPal Checkout Add-On work with this? We want to keep the users on the site, but I don’t see any other option.

The PayPal Checkout Add-On supports subscriptions as of v2.1:

I’ll try it out and see how it goes. I’m also wondering if it’s any different to set up than with Stripe “subscriptions” settings?

There are slight differences with all the payment add-ons, based on what the service’s API supports. I recommend installing it and connecting it to a PayPal account to see what is possible. If you have any questions, please let us know.
