Trace steps on the website before submitting form

Is anybody aware of a method to trace the steps of a website visitor, and to include them in a form submission?

Example:

  1. Visitor arrives on homepage
  2. Visitor clicks on button to visit FAQ page
  3. Visitor uses the nav menu to go to contact page
  4. Visitor fills out contact form and submits it.

With the contact form notification delivered to the admin email should the steps 1 to 3 be included.

If anybody has any ideas how to do this, please share it.

Check out Google Analytics and Events Tracking for this purpose. I’m not sure how you would add it to the notification but it can be tracked on the GA side.
