Import forms feature has never worked for me

Any time I’ve tried to use the Import Forms option, I receive this error:

”Forms could not be imported. Please make sure your files have the .json extension, and that they were generated by the Gravity Forms Export form tool.”

This occurs on a set of 2-4 very simple forms without images, created using the same version of Gravity Forms (v2.9.24) in each case (i.e. both the export and the import are done with this version).

The JSON appears to be valid, so I’m not sure what the issue is, and I see nothing in the PHP error log after the above message appears.

Does anyone use this feature, and does anyone know what the issue might be?
