I am experiencing a critical issue with the User Registration Add-On where the User Activation Email is not being sent after a new user registers on my website. Despite extensive troubleshooting, the issue persists, and I would appreciate your expert assistance in resolving this matter.
Issue Summary:
- New users successfully submit the Gravity Forms User Registration form and appear under Pending Activations in Gravity Forms.
- The activation email is never sent to the user after form submission.
- WP Mail SMTP logs confirm that while admin notifications are being sent, no activation emails are being triggered for the user.
- Manually activating the user via Gravity Forms > Pending Activations does not trigger an activation email either.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
Checked Gravity Forms Notifications:
- Verified that the User Activation Email notification exists and is active.
- Confirmed that the “Send To” field is set to {user:user_email}, but the merge tag does not appear in the “Select a Field” dropdown.
- Tried switching the “Send To” field to manually selecting the email field from the dropdown, but the field does not appear.
Verified Logging & Debugging:
- Enabled Gravity Forms Logging and set it to log all messages (User Registration, Notifications, etc.).
- No errors related to User Activation Email were found in the logs.
- WP Mail SMTP logs show admin notifications but do not show any attempt to send the User Activation Email.
Manually Resent Activation Email:
- Attempted to manually resend the activation email via Gravity Forms > Pending Activations, but this also failed.
- Manually activating a user does not trigger the activation email either.
Checked for Conflicts & Plugin Issues:
- Verified that Ultimate Membership Pro (UMP) does not interfere with user registration.
- Confirmed that WordPress default activation emails are disabled to avoid conflicts.
- Ensured that our email settings are properly configured with WP Mail SMTP and tested email delivery, which works for other notifications but not the activation email.

Verification of whether the “User Activation Email” is correctly configured in the latest Gravity Forms version.
