Interestingly enough, I also have a site that has experienced this exact issue/error in the past 24 hours and I found the same expired thread as the OP. The timing makes me wonder if this is an issue on Square’s end?
The issue I believe has to do with the reCAPTCHA plugin. Deactivate it and run a test. Let me know if this works for you.

We noticed the same issue on my site. I deactivated the Gravity Forms reCAPTCHA plugin, and a payment was successfully completed. Is there a roadmap for fixing this so we can run the reCAPTCHA plugin?
This issue is resolved when using the latest add-on for your payment gateway and Gravity Forms 2.9.0. If you are still experiencing the issue, please open a support ticket so we can investigate.
