Is this still the case with the plugin for subscriptions? No editing from the customer side via the plugin?

This has not changed, and there have been no changes to the Authorize.net Add-On since 2021. It is a legacy add-on that will not receive further updates. How long it continues to function depends on how long Authorize.net maintains their deprecated APIs, which the add-on uses.
We recommend switching to an alternative payment add-on, such as Stripe, PayPal Checkout, Square, or Mollie.
