Multi-file upload button doesn't launch photo picker in mobile Safari browser

I have a multi-file upload field in a form. The “Select files” button does not do anything at all in iOS Safari browsers. The button works correctly in Chrome and Duck Duck Go mobile browsers.

Oddly, the image picker is launched if I touch the field label. If I then upload a photo using the image picker from the label, the “Select files” button begins working. I don’t see any errors being printed to the console during this behavior. Any idea how to fix this issue?
