List field value merge tag not working

Hello,

I want to extract single value from a specific cell in a list field. For example, I want to extract values from [column 1, row 2].

I tried adding the merge tag filter for list field to the function.php as described here

However, when I use merge tag {list:1:2}, it returns the entire table with comma separation.

How do I get a single value only? Thank a lot
