GravityForms 2.5.6 "does not have a valid header" upon update, disappears from plugins list

Updating from 2.5.1.3 to 2.5.6 results in the following error:

The plugin gravityforms/gravityforms.php has been deactivated due to an error: The plugin does not have a valid header.

On top of that, Gravity Forms disappears from the Plugins page. Only way to bring it back is to overwrite the plugin via FTP with the 2.5.1.3 version, which is the only older version I have on hand.

The site’s PHP was recently updated to 7.4, so that may be related.

Any ideas what may be causing this?
