The future of the Gravity Forms 2.5 theme

Legacy markup is going to go away in GF 3.1. So I have started the process of disabling it on my client’s sites.

As most of the sites I manage are custom builds, in which the forms are styled using CSS only, it seems easiest to just upgrade the forms to use the 2.5 theme, adjust some CSS, and be done with it.

But given the fact that legacy markup is being phased out in favor of the new Theme Framework, I have a feeling that the same will happen to the 2.5 theme. Is that correct? Will it eventually be removed as well? Or will it be preserved as an unopinionated alternative to the Orbital theme?

Thanks in advance!

I checked in with our product team on this and there is interest in eventually phasing out the 2.5 theme. They have no timeline in mind and will work to maintain backward compatibility for as long as possible without sacrificing the ability to use newer technologies. Any such deprecation would be accompanied by a long lead-up time for customers to make a transition.

Thanks for the quick response, and for being transparent about this!
