How to Select a Range of Cells from a Google Sheet for Use in a Drop-Down Field?

Is it possible to designate a range of cells that are in a single column to populate a drop-down? I have a Google sheet with healthcare insurance plan names in Column 1, but the names of the plans don’t start until Row 8 (there’s a header “Plan Name” in Row 1, and then some other irrelevant data in Rows 2-7).

How do I tell the drop-down field to begin at Row 8?

Hi Holly,

It’s not directly possible to target specific cells within Google Sheets to get only the values in those cells. However, there are some possible workarounds which may work for you.

  1. You could add an extra column to the Google sheets and set it up to number or count the rows. Each row would have a number which you can use to set up the Populate Anything filter. So in this case, the populate anything filter, will check if the value in the count column > 7.

  2. Another solution will be to use the populate anything filter to exclude the exact values entered, in cells 2-7 of column 1, using the “is not” operator.

I hope this helps.

Best,
