We just released a free plugin called Gravity Forms Spam Hexer.
We’ve been using this one internally for some time and have been able to cancel our Akismet subscription, deactivate Cloudflare Turnstile, and still dramatically reduce spam across both our Gravity Forms and WordPress comments.
It protects Gravity Forms and WordPress comments from spam without CAPTCHAs or friction for real users through a bit of a (not so) secret sauce: Proof of Work and AI classification.

I love the elegance of Proof of Work. The fact that users aren’t affected by it at all distinguishes the solution from other “Checking your browser” alternatives. Makes me want to install Spam Hexer in all the sites I’m a part of!
