File upload/delete icon is too confusing!

I’m not sure the best place to post this and I don’t want to bother anyone with a support email, but I’ve been having a big problem that I wanted to make the gravity form devs aware of.

One of my sites has a bunch of forms that require people to upload documents and one of the icons being used is causing so much confusion. After someone uploads a document to the form, an icon with a red “X” appears by it. Many people think this means that the upload did not complete or that there is some kind of error. Then they email us saying that the form is broken. This happens ALL THE TIME and it is becoming increasingly frustrating to deal with.

I have been able to temporarily solve this by replacing the “delete” icon with the “tick” icon. But since I have GF set to update automatically, I have to constantly remember to replace the icon every time it updates, which is difficult.

It would be great if this could be fixed to be more clear for people after they upload something. Or possibly give us the option to replace icons without them getting overwritten?

Anyone else having this issue? Thanks!

Hello. You can use the gform_file_upload_markup filter you can use to change that image without modifying any Gravity Forms core files:
