Field merge tags not to be showen combined with text

Hello,
Is it possible to disable a sentence with a field merge tag in for instance the confirmations when that product is not selected in the form?

Amount brochures: {amount_brochures:5} examples

I know that when you only place the tag {amount_brochures:5}, and it is not filled it, it wil not show.
