I wonder if anyone knows anything about resolving post creation problems with GravityFlow?
The issue is quite simple. When using Gravity Forms to create a form that then becomes a post, the user can upload an image that becomes the post’s featured image.
However, when using the same workflow – but adding Gravity Flow to the process – the uploaded image fails to become the post’s featured image.
The image is clearly being uploaded and can be seen as “Post Image” in the GravityFlow inbox. It’s just not being picked up by the post itself, nor does it show in the media library.
I’ve been trying to get some help from GravityFlow on this, but they don’t seem to understand the problem.
After hours of work and much fruitless searching, I have the answer to this, and am posting here in case others are similarly affected.
The fault lies with Gravity Forms itself, not Gravity Flow.
Using Gravity Forms to create a featured post image will FAIL if:
Field: Post Image
Set as Featured Image? Checked
Post created using Post Creation feed? Yes
The workaround is NOT to use the Post Image field in the form, but to use a File Upload field to insert the uploaded image file into the Post Creation feed.
Frankly, this reflects very badly on GF. At the very least they ought to full document this “feature” – preferably in the same user space as the “Set as Featured Image?” checkbox.
As a Gravity Forms user, I know how frustrating little “discovered” quirks like this can be. As a developer, I also know how hard to it is to find all of these quirks before my customers do.
I’m sure the Gravity Forms team will appreciate this feedback and implement something to avoid this frustration for future customers.
