Datefield Issue

Hi my Datefield for some reason is having issues, after hitting submit, the year is forced into the month field, and does not complete validation. Do you know what causes this?

I found a workaround, I have to use date picker, instead of date field or date dropdown. But if someone can provide insight that would be appreciated.
