The Gravity Forms version is too old for the PHP version. Updating to the latest version, currently 2.6.7, should resolve those issues.

I have tried to update the plug in however it will not update

Yes I have tried this too, but Gravity forms will not allow me to download this version from the site. Even though I am already running gravity forms on GPL-2.0+ free license. Is it no longer free?

There has never been a free version of Gravity Forms. A paid license, which is only available from [gravityforms.com](http://gravityforms.com), has always been required to access updates and plugin downloads.
