Double Opt-In Without Email Service

Is it possible for Gravity Forms to require double opt-in without using an email service integration like MailChimp? Here is my scenario: I am launching a website that will include a form for visitors to sign up for our newsletter. However, I have not selected an email service yet. I would like to be able to go ahead and begin collecting email addresses but I need to be sure they are GDPR compliant so they will be ready to send to an email service provider at a later time. Is there a plugin for this, or a work-around I could use?

Hi there,

Gravity Forms doesn’t have built-in double opt-in without connecting to an email service. Here are some simple options:

  1. A developer can create a custom system where your form saves emails as “pending,” sends a confirmation email with a link, and only activates the email after the user clicks the link. This makes sure the email is confirmed and GDPR-compliant but needs some coding.

  2. As a simple fix, ask users to type their email twice to avoid mistakes and add a clear consent checkbox on your form to follow GDPR rules until you decide on an email service.

Hi Faisal! Thank you for your response and the helpful suggestions. After I posted this, I was browsing through Gravity Forms’ help section and came across a GF add-on by Albert Brückmann that sounds similar to what I’m looking for. Is this something that GF still recommends?

This is the only third party add-on I’m aware of that offers this functionality:
